Forest Management Plans
'Plans that prioritize landowner objectives'

Comprehensive Forest Management Plans:

Broad base plans that incorporate all aspects of the natural resources characteristic to the property. Included are summaries on: property history, soils, woodlands, timber, wildlife, recreation, old fields, aquatic resources/zones, natural areas, threatened and endangered species, and aesthetic issues. In addition to qualifying for forest tax law and cost share programs, specific landowner interests such as ornithology, fisheries, maple syrup production, non-timber forest "crops", etc., can be addressed.

Forest Tax Law (480-A) Plans
(50-acre Minimum):

A NY State program that can cut property taxes by up to 80%, "...designed to promote good land stewardship and encourage investment in forests.."
Where many 480-A plans result in a mere timber harvest schedule, Niche Foresty rounds out 480-A plans to cater to landowner priorities. Timber management can work to the benefit of wildlife and other landowner priorities, when site specific management is incorporated into the plan--a practice consistent with Niche Forestry philosophy. Ask about this program and find out if you already comply with the flexible 480-A management guidelines.

Cost Share Program Initiation and Administration:

A number of federal programs are available to aid landowners in the stewardship of their property. Once accepted into the program, landowners are reimbursed for up to 75% of the costs of completed projects. Types of quali-
fying improvements include:  thinning densely wooded stands, trailwork, seeding skid roads and log yards, wildlife habitat management, forest road work, tree planting, erosion control, streambank reclamation, pruning, spring/seep development, and depending on the county you're in, forest management plans; to name a few!
